Ellen Morgan, a 32-year-old singleton with a penchant for sharp wit and a touch of self-doubt, resides in the vibrant city of Los Angeles and toils away at a quaint bookstore known as "Buy the Book." She encounters a tumultuous predicament when she attempts to overhaul her dreadfully unflattering driver's license photo. Concurrently, one of Ellen's closest confidantes, Holly, is embarking on a romance with a new suitor, Roger. Ellen harbors a nagging fear that Holly's intimate encounter with Roger may lead to a premature termination of their relationship. Completing the ensemble of friends is Adam Greene, Ellen's carefree, sardonic roommate, and Anita, Adam's former, acerbic girlfriend.
