Imagine the scenario where the newspaper destined for tomorrow lands on your doorstep this very morning. What if you learned that your time was drawing to a close? Would you seek a lucky streak in love while facing misfortune in life? These are the daily conundrums faced by Gary Hobson, portrayed by Kyle Chandler. Gary, once a stockbroker, found himself downsized from his job and was dismissed by his wife as unengaging, ultimately being asked to leave their home.

The simplicity of his daily life is shattered each day by an unexpected visitor: an orange cat, which deposits the morning paper at his door, a copy from the Chicago Sun Times. Intrigued but puzzled, Gary has ventured into the mystery, uncovering that a man named Lucis Snow, a retired typesetter, had previously received the paper. Upon Snow's passing, the paper began appearing at Gary's doorstep the following day.

Gary maintains a tight-knit circle of friends. Chuck Fishman, played by Fisher Stevens, has been a steadfast companion to Gary since their college days. Chuck, with a penchant for gambling and luck, is constantly urging Gary to share the inside scoop on game scores, winning lottery numbers, stock tips, or even guidance on the latest soap opera plots. Marrisa, Gary's visually impaired friend, serves as his compass, aiding him in making the most informed decisions in a life that is anything but predictable.
