In the fourth installment of this accoladed series, the activities at New York City's 15th Precinct remain as tumultuous as before. Lieutenant Fancy maintains his post as the precinct's commanding officer, while Detective Andy Sipowicz, though still occasionally brusque, has found a sense of calm in the arrival of his son. Detectives Bobby Simone and Diane Russell progress in their romantic bond, James Martinez takes on the role of Squad Delegate, and Greg Meadavoy contemplates the possibility of becoming a gestational father. Yet, one constant remains— the squad's unwavering resolve to ensure that the malefactors face justice in court, while also striving to preserve a semblance of normalcy in their private lives amidst the investigation of cases that frequently place them in the path of danger.
