Sam succumbs to temptation and reverts to his old habits, while Diane experiences a severe emotional collapse following their separation. However, upon her recovery, Diane returns to Cheers and enthusiastically endorses her psychiatrist, Dr. Frasier Crane, as a potential confidant for Sam. Yet, she refrains from revealing the intimate nature of her relationship with him.
