简介：Amanda Ripley, a feminist writer contributing to the women's magazine "Spare Cheeks," inadvertently secures an apartment in Kensington. To meet the rent demands of Lady Carlton, the eccentric romance novelist (whose affectionate companion is a plush dog named Josephine), who resides on the floor below and owns the flat, Amanda is compelled to accommodate Shelley DuPont, a boisterous American actress; Jennifer Marsh, a developmentally disabled friend from her childhood; and Candice Valentine (pronounced "Candeece"), the "slut" who had once inhabited the space and now finds herself with no other place to call home.
