简介:The 1994 FIA Formula One World Championship marked the 48th illustrious season of the FIA Formula One motor racing circuit. This championship, which unfurled its grand opening on March 27, 1994, concluded on November 13, after a thrilling series of sixteen races. The season is indelibly etched in the annals of Formula One for its tragic and contentious nature. The 1994 championship was a nail-biter, with Michael Schumacher securing the Drivers' title by a mere point over Damon Hill, following a contentious collision during the final round in Adelaide. Schumacher had amassed a commanding lead, winning six of the first seven races, only to be challenged by Hill after two disqualifications and a subsequent race ban. The British constructor, Williams-Renault, triumphed in the Constructors' Championship. Yet, the 1994 season is also synonymous with the tragic loss of three-time World Champion Ayrton Senna and Austrian upstart Roland Ratzenberger during the San Marino Grand Prix. The 1994 World Championship featured 46 drivers, including fourteen newcomers to the F1 stage and a plethora of substitute drivers. Mercedes-Benz, absent from the sport since 1955, made a triumphant return as an engine supplier to the Swiss team, Sauber. Additionally, the season heralded Ferrari's first victory since 1990 – a stark contrast to McLaren's barren run of races following Senna's departure, which paved the way for a long-term partnership with Mercedes.
