简介:In the aftermath of 'Not The Nine O'Clock News', a plethora of B.B.C. sketch comedies emerged, each striving to emulate the show's original brand of healthy disrespect for authority and reveling in the sheer delight of bad taste for its own sake. Crafted by B.B.C. Scotland under the executive direction of Sean Hardie, 'A Kick Up The Eighties' has since garnered acclaim for introducing the then-unknown Rik Mayall, credited as Kevin Turvey, to the wider public. As a Brummie fool with aspirations of being an investigative reporter, Turvey delivered whimsical monologues to the camera, concluding each with a characteristic statement, "Kevin's 'ere!", as he playfully touched his left ear. This quirkiness transformed Turvey into a cult figure, eventually leading to his very own one-off series: 'Kevin Turvey - The Man Behind The Green Door'.
