Mrs. Emmeline Lucas, affectionately known as Lucia, has recently transplanted herself to the quaint English town of Tilling. Upon her arrival, she finds herself at odds with the social aspirations of Miss Elizabeth Mapp. Until the arrival of Lucia, Miss Mapp had reigned supreme, orchestrating and dictating the social fabric of Tilling with an iron fist. However, this was a status quo that abruptly shifted with their encounter.
