Matt Houston, a prosperous Texan hailing from Los Angeles, has diversified his business portfolio. One of his ventures, a private investigation firm, has surprisingly consumed the lion's share of his time, much to the chagrin of Murray, his seasoned business manager, who finds himself shouldering the brunt of responsibilities. Houston is ably supported by C.J. Parsons, both his legal counsel and a cherished confidant. The first season introduced viewers to Lt. Vince Novelli, a police liaison and personal friend of Houston. His mother, the owner of a local eatery, also made appearances, often frequented by Houston himself. Additionally, the series showcased Houston's ranch hands, Bo and Lamar. In the second season, Novelli and his mother vanished from the scene, and Bo and Lamar's presence diminished. Houston's new police contact, Lt. Hoyt, was introduced, but their relationship started off on a rocky note. By the third season, Houston's uncle Roy, a former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) agent with a wealth of experience, joined the team, lending his expertise and support whenever needed.
