Rebecca is still nursing the hurt from Evan Drake's relocation to Japan. Consequently, she directs her efforts towards advancing her career, reasoning that Drake carried away the company's crème de la crème to Japan, leaving behind those who once labeled her as a "quitter." Additionally, she indulges in a Mercedes purchase. Yet, her defenses are somewhat compromised, and when Sam extends another invitation, she reluctantly accepts, devoid of genuine enthusiasm. As Rebecca and Sam are on the cusp of their maiden date, their path is unexpectedly interrupted by Rebecca's new boss, Greg Stone, who enters the bar. Overwhelmed by her boss-centric tendencies, Rebecca promptly dismisses Sam upon spotting Mr. Stone. To her, it's a déjà vu moment of love at first sight. However, Stone's intervention bursts her romantic bubble. He believes the bar thrived under Sam's guidance and consequently, appoints Sam as the new manager, while terminating Rebecca. This revelation hits Rebecca with a profound shockwave, and it also plunges Sam into despair, as he detests the idea of managing a bar in a corporate mold.
